Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī ( Rumi) was a 13th-century Persian poet, Islāmic scholar, jurist, Sufi mystic, and theologian.
Rumi’s philosophy depends on the music, dance, and poetry. In his view music is the soul part, that helps people to connect with the higher self. Let us take a look what we can learn from Rumi’s life and teachings.
“Stop acting so small. You are the universe in ecstatic motion.” – Rumi
The very first act that you can play in your life is to act like that you’re a lion, not a rat in this world. Most of the people are unhappy and stressful in their life just because they feel and believe that they are no one. Believe that you are so special, think that you have some unique qualities that others don’t have in their life. Utilize them, sharpen them, let your amateur conditions become an expert one.
“Don’t grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.” – Rumi
Small acts never go waste; you may lose something that is so close to your heart but doesn’t feel sorry for that ever, everything you are facing in your life carries a secret vision to improve your overall future. As we have a limited view of our life, so most of the time we shall not be able to predict that one.
“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.” – Rumi
Don’t do any work if your heart says no to you. Always follow your heart, Our soul never lies to us; it was our brain that works as a culprit. The source of all our grief comes from that time when we override our soul’s decisions. Feel your heart, then built your life. What do you want from your life? What makes you happy? What seems so important to you from other works?
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.” – Rumi
Every change that you are going to take place will start with yourself, wise is he who invests his time to improving himself, money can vanish from your life, even friends too, but skill never goes from life, improve your skills, learn something new every day. Explore the world. Explore the opportunities.
“Ignore those that make you fearful and sad; that degrade you back towards disease and death.” – Rumi
Habit and lifestyle play a significant role in our day-to-day life, At an average of 6 million people die each year due to only smoking. It’s not the end of it, there are so many bad habits we have in our lives and knowing or unknowingly we are constantly feeding them by our rough decisions. A small positive change in your life can make your future much safer and healthier.
“Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.” – Rumi
Every time you involve yourself in an argument, you lose your coolness and peace of mind. An argument is not wrong; a constructive discussion can lead you to a solution for a difficult task. But somehow we all notice that at one point people lose their peace of mind, Do you know why? Because they believe that, if they raise their voice, then they can win the argument. But generally, that doesn’t work. If you have a point to prove, then the first thing you will need to know “how to control your emotions.” If you can control your emotions, then you can deal with anyone.
“Everything in the universe is within you. Ask all from yourself.” – Rumi
You will never find happiness outside of yourself, everything is inside of you, you are the controller of your life, if you decide to live happily, you will be, if you choose to live unhappy you will be. Seek for the happiness inside of yourself; no external material can give you that one.
“Set your life on fire. Seek those who fan your flames” – Rumi
I have a simple rule in my life; I keep some distance from those who inject negativity into my life. Surround yourself with those people who give you hope for life, who can able to bring peace to your life. Anyone can show what is happening wrong in our life, but actual characters are those people who hold the capacity to solve them. Be with them. Let them spark a flame in your heart.
“Suffering is a gift. In it is hidden mercy.” – Rumi
Every bad deed is an opportunity to pick you up. Treat it as a test. The more you will go through a hard time the more you will grow from inside. Excellence is an art comes from the real hard work.
“Wherever you are, and whatever you do, be in love.” – Rumi
It is not how you do your job; it is that how much you love your work. If you don’t like your job, it will surely seem to you as a burden; love makes it so easy. You can put hours in it without feeling any tiredness. Choose what you love. Everyone will respect your decision if you can prove them how much you love your work.
“Start a huge, foolish project, like Noah…it makes absolutely no difference what people think of you.” – Rumi
Every accomplishment you do in your life at the very first moment it will surely look like a foolish one. Only you can understand its future. Because you’re so passionate and smart enough. Don’t quit your work. It takes time, let them make the joke out of yourself, one day you will show them how great you are, you will surely go to set an unreachable example for the world.
“Inside you, there’s an artist you don’t know about… say yes quickly, if you know, if you’ve known it from before the beginning of the universe.” – Rumi
Every one of us born with a unique quality, but Unfortunately very few of us able to explore it. It takes our whole life to understand our purpose, to explore our real potential. Some of us understand it at the end of our life. Then we only left with regrets. Why not find it now, why not to join your real journey for life. Why not remember for the reason you take this birth.
When someone asks what there is to do, light the candle in his hand. – Rumi
Sometimes people want to change their life, but they do feel that it is not possible because they don’t have any option, or their life is not as easy as others, but the truth is that they are the people who live with a solution without knowing for their entire lives. When they open their eyes, they explore the truth behind their miseries; then they find the solution.
“Not only the thirsty seek the water, the water as well seeks the thirsty.” – Rumi
Time change for them those who do work hard. Happiness follows them who don’t seek happiness. Peace of mind comes to them those who drop desires from their life. Your choice of thoughts and your choice of life bring you the result. Whatever you do in life, it has an equal reaction; if you do good others will undoubtedly bless you.
“Forget safety. Live where you fear to live.” – Rumi
Except that you are always looking for security in your life, starting from a job to a relation. Safety is the only reason behind your unhappiness. Let live a life which you want, if its fearful doesn’t matter. Day by day it will make sense to you and others.
