When we start talking with someone, we began to demand their attention, but in our case, we work exactly opposite of that.

Stop Unnecessary Talk: The first step you need to take is to stop talking. Do not speak unnecessary words when someone is talking with you. Let them speak; let them clear their point and their mind. Focus only on the message you are receiving.
Stop Helping Immediately: Normally when we listen to others, we try to help them immediately. We thought we had a better solution. We can fix this problem, but that doesn’t work. Stop helping them immediately, let them speak and then process the conversation in your mind.
Limit all distractions: Nobody likes to talk with a person who is always busy with other stuff, stop doing that. Try to give your full energy to one task at a time. If you’re really busy with something, then first finish that work, then start the conversation.
Remember Properly: Don’t forget something immediately what they told you. Remember the conversation so that next time when you will talk, they don’t need to repeat themselves. It will give them a sign of trust and loyalty.
Process in Your Mind: Before you give a response; try to process your words in your mind, repeat them, so that you can confirm what you are willing to say is relevant to the topic and without judgmental.
Be In a Zero: A good listener means you will need to deal with those people who are way opposite to your nature. Don’t judge them; try to put yourself in their position and then talk. It will help them feel secure to talk with you.

Make Eye Contact: For being a good listener maintain a proper eye contact is an essential part, by doing so, you will not only avoid distraction but also understand your speaker well. Also, you will be able to read their body language correctly.
Clarification: If you think somewhere something is missing or you haven’t understood it properly, don’t skip that one, ask it again, so that you can carry a clear picture.
Follow Up: Remember, don’t forget to follow up the discussion. Let them know you care. If it’s possible, call them, ask questions; for example, Do they need any further attention or not? (However, don’t do it overly)
