What is Self-Talk?
Self-Talk is the ability to talk to your inner self or out loud based on an individual situation. It may have a positive effect or maybe an adverse effect on your choice of words. In simple terms, Self-Talk is those thoughts which you chant throughout the day.
Types Of Self-Talk
Positive Self-Talk: On an average, our mind produces 40000-60000 thoughts every day, but most surprisingly 20 percent of these thoughts are positive, and the rest of them are the negative thoughts. As an example of Positive Self Talk is “I can do that work”. “I am Healthy and Strong.”
Negative Self-Talk: Negative self-talks are a big mess in our life, and it is something that we all do throughout the day. For an example, “I am not going to do so”, “I am fatty nobody likes me”. Are you able to recognize these questions?
What Are Some Benefits Of Positive Self-Talk
Self-Confidence: Positive self-talk increases your self-confidence. You started believing in yourself. Then generally you become stronger than you are before. And you gain the courage to face the odds of your life.
Decision Making Power: Positive Self-talk also helps you to increase your decision-making power, because you started to see the world in a positive way that helps you to take the firm decision with analyzing the both sides of the fact.
Risk Taking Abilities: As you gain confidence in yourself, your ability to taking risk increases dramatically because you become fearless, you don’t be afraid to lose, and we all know, without any risk, you will never get anything surprising in your life.
Memory Power: Positive Self-talk increases your memory power too, as you repeat yourself about the situation again and again.
Boost Up Your Concentration: Soldiers, sportsmen’s are the perfect examples of it, they maintain a positive self-talk before going to their respective events, that boost up their concentration power and their ability to do their task well.
Relief From Stress: Do you ever wonder why stress comes in our life, because of our negative mindset and our fear, if we maintain a positive self-talk then there would be no stress in your life. For an example, you will have a presentation tomorrow. You are afraid that you will not be able to do so. That gives you negative effect. Instead of that if you choose to cheer up yourself, that “I can do that, it may take some extra hours, but it’s all part of the job”. Then there would be no stress.
Improves Your Health: Those who lived their life with a positive mindset usually they live a healthy life, in comparison with those who live their life with a negative mindset. Positive self-talk helps them to fight.
Remain Young: Time never stays for anyone, it goes on, and our age too, but what makes the difference is how you choose to stay if your heart remains young you will continue to be always young, and positive self-talk helps you to do so. It gives you the belief to do new things irrespective of the age barriers.
What Are Some Positive Self-talk Question That I Can Try
As long as positive self-talk concern, you can try anything that helps you to motivate yourself, and eliminate your all negative thoughts. I will show some of the examples of it here. You can try it by yourself.
1. When you fell into trouble or have a lot of work to do, when your mind started yelling that you will not be able to do so, just repeat these words.
“I can do it. I just need some help.”
2. When someone insults you or criticize you, when you feel week about yourself, just repeat these words.
“The more I practice, the better I get.”
3. When you have done so much hard work, and you haven’t received your desired result yet, just repeat these words.
“I am patient. I can wait. My turn will come.”
4. When some work seems to you so much hard to accomplish, just repeat these words.
“I take little, little steps.”
These are just some example of positive self-talk questions, now you know how to do it, you can try by yourself, depends on your respective situations.
What Are Some Uplifting Long Term Positive Self-Talk Question
Everything has a long-term and a short-term way so does self-talk too. Here I will give you a task to do. That will help you to stay positive with your thoughts all the time.
1. Who you are?
It doesn’t mean your identity or your professional qualifications. It’s about your inner soul. What you think about yourself. In which category you will review yourself. Are you a lazy person? or an effective one? Only by knowing the real truth you can develop yourself.
2. Where from my happiness come from?
Find your source of happiness, where from you get pleasure. Are those things worth to get your attention, if not then take actions?
3. Do I feel the divine in others as well?
You may think this question is spiritual, but it, certainly not, here the “divine” means “equal.” Are you treating everyone that you meet throughout your day equally? If not, then it’s time to think again.
4. Is my love is unconditional for others?
How you will measure your love for others, do you think that your love is unconditional, without any materialistic bonds?
5. Which is worse, failing or never trying?
Are you afraid to try new things in your life? Are you stuck in your comfort zone? Do you think that you are really in this situation?
6. How do I want to be remembered?
What are your dreams? What do you want to achieve in your life? Most of us spend a whole life without realizing our real purpose of life. Do you want to fall into that same category?
7. Have I accepted myself as it is?
This question relates to your physic and your mental abilities. Are you satisfied with that? Or you always feel like “I am fat.” “I am not good-looking?” etc., etc.
8. Have I forgiven myself and others unconditionally?
Do you practice forgiveness? Do you feel guilty for your works? Do you want to change that? There are plenty of things that we do every day in our life. Some of them are terrible mistakes, but you can always choose to be on the other side.
9. What is the happiest part of my life?
Most of the time asking these questions brings a smile to our face; suddenly a bad day turns into a good one. What’s your best memory that you always want to remember.
10. In 10 years now, am I able to remember what I did today?
Every single day is important in our life. If you are wasting a single minute, may in future you will feel guilty for that. Do something that makes a difference, and that you will remember throughout your life.
Remember our mind is the greatest gift that we have, if we take good care of it, then it will do such things that you haven’t imagined in your dreams yet.
