Plans are nothing; planning is everything.– Dwight D. Eisenhower
What does productivity means to you? Is it something like this, “Productivity is an average measure of the efficiency of production? It can be expressed as the ratio of output to inputs for an average human being (wiki). Then I am going to completely disagree with you.
What I believe, the problem with the word “productivity” remains in that definition itself. Abounded amount of articles are available throughout the internet, but still, it doesn’t work for a lot of people, do you ever ask yourself why it’s not working.
Because most of us look into that word “productivity” as a formula, we wish that someone shall go to give us the secret recipe, and it will change our life completely. But after some short of time, we realize that it doesn’t work that way.
The reality is productivity is a style, style with discipline, a whole new structure that shall take our life and our efficiency to an entirely new level. For that purpose, we need to focus on the core things first, by changing those basic things we can save ourselves from hampering our productivity.
Let me start it with our basic lifestyle, Lifestyle plays a big role, and you cannot just ignore it.
Way To Be Productive
Early Rising: I had a bad memory into this early rising ritual, I was not that good at this task, but later after my accident and lying on the bed for almost one year, and for the sake of my health I was forced to do it, but guess what? It does make a big difference. I realized that the mooring time is a perfect productive time; you don’t need to think about late hours, no unwanted sounds, nothing only you and the rising sun, with your complete creative thoughts.
Plan Your Day: The question is why do we need a plan? And in which way is it going to help us? By planning a day you give a purpose to yourself, you have a choice to select what is important to you and what is not? And most important part of the task is through which media you are going to track this; most people suggest through online, but I think it’s best to do it offline because offline serves the purpose well, and an online platform just killed it.
The 50/10 rule: What is this 50/10 rule is all about? 50/10 rule means 50 minutes of work and 10 minutes of break, to refocus on your assigned task. I talked about this 50/10 rule in my earlier posts also, taking a break not only helps us to refocus but also contributes to reducing our work stress.
Learn To Say No Gracefully: Someone is seeking help from your end in a particular task or else invited you to do something, and you feel less connected with it, you wanted to say no wholeheartedly, without hurting that person, there comes the “Art of saying no gracefully.” I believe saying “No” to an unwanted task is a leadership quality; a leader can do that well, that’s how he/she maintains his/her work.
Social Media: A barrier is a barrier admit it or not, most of the time social sites work as an obstacle to your job, a half an hour of social chat goes to an hour-long without our knowledge. It works as a complete mismanagement, the idea of making a social site is to give access to stay connected with your friends and family, and it turns into a curse now. What should be the welcome note then, the welcome sign should be to use within a particular time.
Self-Talk: Self-talk is a way to know more about yourself; it’s a way that leads you to a better and a brighter life. By doing self-talk you can bring out your inner voice, it will help you reduce stress and to maintain a relaxed and calm position of your mind.
Keeping A Journal: Try to maintain a journal. It will be beneficial for you in many ways, starting from clarifying your thoughts, to boosting your memory power to become more organized in life; and in bonus, you can be in touch with your mind on a regular basis as well.
Listen To Music: Music works as a therapy, and in my case, if it’s classical then there is no option left to turn it off, Soft music boost our mind. And it helps us to enrich our productivity.
Stop Multitasking: Avoid doing multitasking, Multitasking not only reduce your performance but also damage your brain, you may lose your brain power, most likely the capacity to recall things.
Drink Water: Drink water a lot; Water is the central component of our human body; almost 60% of the adult human body is water. So the regular water consumption should be a must have task. It will keep you healthy and fit, and you will be more productive.
